Networking issue
Oh people of expert i have proplem related to networking i wanna setup a computer as a web server and giving that server a real ip address
The details here as follows the location of that computer is a lab full of computers attached to local lan each lab is attached to a smart switch ( not cisco ) each switch of each lab is attached to a switch attached directly to a gateway to wide area network ( internet )
here's my problem
I wanna give the computer a real IP address in same lab without moving the computer please note the lab is local area network
what feature or technique allow me to do such a thing because i'm struggling with people of networking they said it's not possible an i must move my computer
does switching introduce a feature to implement such thing

So yeah, I have knoppix live and can't seem to set the devices on the network... I configured the IP, and the server sees it, I configured DNS and I can access some websites, and I still can't access the shared folders on the system.

I installed AIX 7.1 on a blade though (hmc with vio). I can ping the IP address, but not the gateway. Is there anything that I should configure?

DESCRIPTION
IPv6 tokenized interface identifier support is used for assigning well-known host-part addresses to nodes whilst still obtaining a global
network prefix from Router advertisements. The primary target for tokenized identifiers are server platforms where addresses are usually
manually configured, rather than using DHCPv6 or SLAAC. By using tokenized identifiers, hosts can still determine their network prefix by
use of SLAAC, but more readily be automatically renumbered should their network prefix change [1]. Tokenized IPv6 Identifiers are described
in the draft [1]: <draft-chown-6man-tokenised-ipv6-identifiers-02>.
ip token set - set an interface token
set the interface token to the kernel.
TOKEN the interface identifier token address.
dev DEV
the networking interface.
ip token del - delete an interface token
delete the interface token from the kernel.
dev DEV

ip token get - get the interface token from the kernel
show a tokenized interface identifier of a particular networking device. Arguments: coincide with the arguments of ip token set but the
