Look at the message, it says "read only file system".

You could do
Code:
gunzip <lnx_920_disk1.cpio.gz >/some/writeable/partition

or even

switch to where you want to extract it to and do

Code:
gunzip </path/to/lnx_920_disk1.cpio.gz | cpio -ivdu
