Help in ls or grep command!!!
Hi,
I have a list of files in a folder with the naming convention like aaa.<file_name>.03122007.
I just want to redirect the file names into a txt file minus the date portion.
i want the output like aaa.<file_name>
And is there any command in UNIX where in we can cut a portion of a string or number from the end of the file.
Say like.we have xxxaaacccc and after executing the command,i want it to be like xxxaaa.
Thanks for you help,
Kumar

EXAMPLES
Example #1
fputcsv(3) example
<?php
$list = array (
array('aaa', 'bbb', 'ccc', 'dddd'),
array('123', '456', '789'),
array('"aaa"', '"bbb"')
);
$fp = fopen('file.csv', 'w');
foreach ($list as $fields) {
fputcsv($fp, $fields);
}
fclose($fp);
?>
The above example will write the following to file.csv:
aaa,bbb,ccc,dddd
123,456,789
"""aaa""","""bbb"""
NOTES
Note
If PHP is not properly recognizing the line endings when reading files either on or created by a Macintosh computer, enabling the
auto_detect_line_endings run-time configuration option may help resolve the problem.
