Just got a solaris 8 blade 150 box with no users, only a root account. no one seems to know the password. I'd like to add one user. So I booted into single user mode via cdrom and added one. Can't seem to login using the new account, though. Here's what I'm using:

I want group to run one of my unix script as me . I when the script is run it should have my permission's not the group .
I tried this :
1.Have a file called y.ksh

2.Output file has this permission

Suppose that you want to mostly not echo commands inside your script during execution (e.g. to not bog the user down with details that they do not care about) but that there is the occaisional script line that you would like to echo before you execute it.

hello ppl, someone must be able to help with this --> I have an old NCR tower 32 with an ADDS terminal running a unix version 020102 (Im not sure if thats correct but its unix for sure). I want to compile a source gt_util.c into a lo file,
I use
libtool gcc -g -O -c gt_util.c -I./include
but it prompts me :
cannot determin name of library object from 'include'
how should I use the tool to compile a source to .lo file?

I came across a post wherein you can use "set -r"(on bash) to activate restricted mode ( wherein you cant run some commands such as cd etc).

groups - Displays your group membership SYNOPSIS
groups [user] DESCRIPTION
The groups command writes to standard output the groups to which you or the specified user belong. The Tru64 UNIX operating system allows a user to belong to many different groups at the same time. Your primary group is specified in the /etc/passwd file. Once you are logged in, you can change your active group with the newgrp shell command (see sh). When you create a file, its group ID is that of your active group. Other groups that you belong to are specified in the /etc/group file. If you belong to more than one group, you can access files belonging to any of those groups without changing your primary group ID. These are called your concurrent groups. NOTES
The /etc/passwd and /etc/group files must be on the same node. EXAMPLES
To determine your group membership, enter: groups The groups to which you belong will be displayed. For example: devel prod FILES
