Actually, those settings were in tact. However, just prior to your reply I printed out all the options for 'ifconfig' and tinkered with them for a bit and low and behold it works. After having reviewed the boot or 'dmesg', I noticed that /etc/dhcpd.conf could not be found. So I re-installed the dhcpd package and wha-lah!!!

I recently installed Caldera 2.4 (successfully:p ), but I cannot seem to get my cable modem up and running! My ISP is AT&T and I'm using @home. I've tried using DHCP and that didn't work either. dhclient.leases - DHCP client lease database DESCRIPTION
The Internet Software Consortium DHCP client keeps a persistent database of leases that it has acquired that are still valid. The data- base is a free-form ASCII file containing one valid declaration per lease. If more than one declaration appears for a given lease, the last one in the file is used. The file is written as a log, so this is not an unusual occurrance. The format of the lease declarations is described in dhclient.conf(5). FILES
