really really really new to unix...need help setting up dsl

Its connected to one of those 3Com Routers
it uses DHCP
and yes it all worked perfectly fine on win2kpro and ME
I already tried some stuff so far I read about but no luck....

Here's the list ofthe things I did so far
I made the *resolv.conf*
and I specified the DNS servers
I sepcified the def gateway in the *defaultrouter*
and I even did the
"cp nsswitch.dns nsswitch.conf
thoseare the things I tried to far but nothing worked
any further help would be greatly appreciated

I'm trying to instal dsl to hd ,but cfdisk comand returns an error.
dmesg | grep hda returns :
Optarac DVD RW AD-7530B, ATAPI CD/DVD-rom drive
attached ide-scsi driver

tgt-setup-lun - creates a target, adds a device to the target and defines initiators that can connect to the target SYNOPSIS
tgt-setup-lun -d device -n target_name [initiator_IP1 initiator_IP2 ...] [-h] DESCRIPTION
Starts tgtd if necessary and creates a target according to the supplied target_name. The format of the target name is as follows: iqn.2001-04.com.<hostname>-<target_name> The target name must be unique. The script then adds the requested device to the target. If specific IP addresses are defined, it adds them to the list of allowed initia- tors for that target. If no IP addresses is defined, it defines that the target accepts any initiator. EXAMPLES
