Ah! That also helps explain it.

Japan is now our third single largest country in terms of visitors (behind the US and India).
  1. US
  2. India
  3. Japan
  4. France
  5. Germany
  6. UK
  7. Brazil
  8. Italy
  9. Canada
  10. Spain

Tokyo is the single largest city, in terms of visits to this site, BTW, in this order:
  1. Tokyo
  2. Bangalore
  3. London
  4. New York
  5. Paris
  6. Chennai
  7. Bangkok
  8. Madrid
  9. Sao Paulo
  10. Singapore

(based on Sept 2009 stats)

I believe it is also national day in Spain, but I'm not sure if it is a holiday or not.

Well it's not a public holiday in the UK (I'm stuck in work, grrr) but completely coincidentally I mentioned Mr Columbus in my weekly story this Friday - what are the odds?

Apologies Neo/anyone else if you thought my posts linking to my flash fiction were spam.
They're just silly short stories. I'm not making any money out of them. Some folk find them amusing, it's Friday, I thought I'd post them. So shoot me :-)

Since Obama has kinda root access now, can't it be changed to Leif Eriksson day since the Vikings were earlier than Columbus? Smilie
