glance in hpux, RSS is 164.2mb

mib2agt resides in /usr/sbin....

Ummmm... I guess it's too low. A single number like RSS can't really help much with today's complex process structures. With glance, type "M" and type the pid of the process. This will display all of the memory regions for that process. This will give you a complete picture of what it is using.

Glance has a "help" feature. When you're displaying some stats, just type "h" and you will enter help.

after doing what u recommend, i discovered that RSS means reserved swap space.. so i deduce that this is a configured value and will not change dynamically is it?

I don't know where you're getting that. While on the "M" screen, I type an "h". This brings up the help menu with "Current Screen Metrics" already highlighted. Since my selection is highlighted, I just press return. I am now at the "Process Memory Regions" menu. I use my downarrow key to scroll down to "RSS" and I press return:
The size (in KBs unless otherwise indicated) of the resident memory occupied by the memory region.
