egrep from list in file

I'm sorry if this question has been answered already.

I have a file with a list of strings:

file_list:

I'd like to egrep another file (file_search) with each string on the list.

I'm not really certain how to start.

I tried something like:

awk '
NR==FNR{
a[NR]=$0
next
}
{
for(i=1;i<NR;i++)
egrep 'i'
}
' file_list file_search > outfile &

Basically I'm lost.

Thank you so much for helping.
