Data would like to purchase pcmcia modem that is supported by RedHat 7.3

I am using an IBM 390E laptop with a built-in LT modem which RH 7.3 does not notice. I would like to know if there are any pcmcia modems that are supported by version 7.3. If so, what is the propduct and where can I purchase it? Thanks!!

You could search RedHat support page for hardware - you will find info on modems and laptops.

RedHat hardware link

Link from RedHat to Linux Laptop Net

Your specific laptop - 390E - this link has info on set up and another link to the modem driver to get.

PCMCIA support on Linux is based on the Linux PCMCIA card services package written by Mr. David Hinds and not related to the distribution.

To see what PCMCIA cards are supported by Linux PCMCIA card services one must read the support files for PCMCIA card services:

http://ibiblio.org/pub/Linux/docs/howto/PCMCIA-HOWTO

Sometimes folks write experimental or beta PCMCIA modules that are not mature enought to be used in Mr. Hind's regular distro, so if your driver/card is not listed in the above URL, try searching:

www.google.com

For the name of your card and keywords Linux and PCMCIA.

That is how I found an odd card services module when my wireless lan card was still in beta and not in the regular PCMCIA distro. Now, it is part of the standard Card Services distro.

Odds are that your card is supported now and can be found in the how-to url above.
