i need some serious help....
hey. I am very clueless. I want to learn perl and do some cgi, and i don't know where to start. I have windows xp, (it's aweful.........) and i don't know how to even get pearl. i need someone to just sit down and explain some basics. I know html and some javascript.

I suggest a good book on Perl, of which there are several, at all levels. Take a look at O'Reilly's "Programming Perl" and "CGI Programming." If they're not too advanced, they are the ones to get.

The Perl book will tell you how to get it for Windows. Or, 5 min. with a Google search will lead to you to it.

You could start at www.perl.com.

For the Win32 environment you will want ActiveState Perl. It is the perl implimentation of Perl on Win32 and I have found it to be very much like perl under Unix.
