Question Stupid question

I need to convert a Unix file to a 'Dos' file. Ie if I look at the converted file in 'vi' on Unix it will have '^M' at the end of each line.

Hopefully it won't be a case of reading each line in turn and adding a \n. I've heard there is some sort of unix2dos command but it is not recognised on our system.

Thanks

What UNIX OS?

Solaris has unix2dos in /bin/. HP-UX has /usr/bin/ux2dos (guess they didn't want to name it the same).

Found this post at another site:
unix2dos script

: Does anybody know if IBM AIX have a command
: that works like ux2dos in HP-UX?
Use this script

#!/bin/sh
# unix2dos script
# Type Control-V Control-M to get ^M

cat $1 | sed "s/^M\{1,\}$//" | sed "$ s/^Z//" > $2

Here is a good tool to use from another post.

https://www.unix.com/showthread.php?s...light=%5EV%5EM

BTW, when you ftp the file try using the "type ascii" before you transfer the file. It will be properly translated to a DOS type file from UNIX or visa-versa.

Hope this helps!
