Bash shell script
Hi Guys,

I am trying to alter a script for my company.

I need the start of it to go something like this.

User is asked to input 8 numbers
8 numbers are written to a txt file
***** ***** ***** txt file is read ***** *****

The text file gets read in between other files represented by ***** in the above line.

If anyone can help or know a better way to get user input into the place for the txt file to be read it would be a great help.

Do you mean you just need to stick 8 numbers (entered by the user) in the middle of a bunch of text (sourced from several files)?

If so, you don't need to worry about populating a temp file with it, just cat the first bunch of files, echo the numbers, then cat the rest.
I'd suggest using:

read numbers ; cat stuff; echo $numbers; cat morestuff
