Question ftp script
I would like to know is anyone knows how to write a little ftp script to retrieve a file from another UNIX machine.

This is what I am currently trying but it keeps on asking me for my password:


ftp 'hostname' < filename.pl

In 'filename.pl' here is what I have, please tell me if I'm on the right track or not:

#!/bin/ksh
-u 'username' -p 'password'
bin
prompt
cd /directory
mget 'file'
bye


Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Here is what I came up with on Dynix/ptx 4.4.8:

Command line:

ftp -vn 'hostname' <filename.pl

Contents of filename.pl:

user username password
bi
prompt
cd /directory
mget 'file'
bye
thekid
# 3
