thanks for the help guys, im doing it through ksh on aix boxes.
anyhow ive got it working another way now:

#!/bin/ksh


count=0

until [ "$count" = "10" ]
do
errpt > /tmp/errpt
let count=count+1
echo "Count is $count"
sleep 10
done
___________________________________________________________
this works every 10 secs but i have adjusted it to my preferred 30 min
i just start it in the morning now.

I found an easy to use Cron Calculator a while back. Its great for beginers
