Hi all,

I am trying to install xemacs, and use aditional packages.
on the specific machine I do not have internet connection, so I downloaded the required packages, and untarred them.

I went into the packages toolbar, and marked the packages I want with the '+' sign, then pressed the 'X' to install.
I get an error that no web connection is found, or no path declared. I used the .config --package-path=[full path to packages] (I set it to go to the /lisp directory)

But still, I can not add the packages.

any help?

first, i cant understand with " I do not have internet connection, so I downloaded the required packages " Are you saying you download the package and save to a disk first before install it ?. Anyway are the file that you wanted to install in RPM format ? If yes try to rpm -iv xemacs.-**-.**.

if its a binary file try to strip the file :-

./configure; make

rm src/xemacs

strip src/xemacs

cp src/xemacs /usr/local/bin/xemacs

cp lib-src/DOC-19.16-XEmacs /usr/local/lib/xemacs-19.16/i586-unknown-linuxaout

Give a try, let us know if its work.

What are you using to add the packages? What kind of machine are you on (type "uname -a")? What kind of file is the package (type "file [package-name]")?

Thank you for your answers.

OK, uname -a gives me that:
HP-UX hpn005 B.11.00 U 9000/800 651369353 unlimited-user license

I use X OnNet to work on the unix machine, and it (the unix) doesn't have internet connection.
So I downloaded the packages I wanted and FTP'ed them to the unix.

I got over the packages dir, but now a new problem arose, the list of available packages says the the package version is 1.21, but the one I downloaded it 1.27 cc-mode) so I can't add it. Basically I need to update the list of package, however, I do not have internet access. I edited the name of the available packages to be 1.27, but it shouts for different checksum.
If you can tell me the checksum of cc-mode 1.27, and/or tell me how to compute the checksum, please let me know.

thanks Smilie
