FTP question

Hi all,
I have a simple script that runs each night and transfers a number of files to a remote server. Before files are transferred existing files on the remote box are deleted. All works OK except the deletion part on the remote box returning no such file or directory. As work around Ihave seperate cron job that does the cleanup but would liketo resolve why delete does not work each though the DIr lists relevant files to the output file ftplog.

FTP parameter file

open remote_server
user username password
cd /location
dir Audit*.csv
delete /location/Audit*.csv
lcd /dev/scripts
put Audit*.csv

calling script

ftp -vn <ftpfile >ftplog

Thanks in advance.

Try using "mdelete" instead of "delete". It understands wild cards better.

Same with "mput"...

You willneed to turn off the interactive prompting that is typical when using multiple puts and deletes etc if you are scripting......either that or cater for it (but simpler to just turn it off).

That's just a

mput -i ........
