Actually install 2000 first

I'm running windows and Linux on a dual boot solution myself. I personally think it's easier to install windows first then Linux. Just make two partitions when you're in the windows2000 setup. Make sure the Linux partition is about 2 gigs in size. Linux is going to partition the partition again, this time with three, SWAP, ROOT and BOOT.
