how do i get any graphics or text from any websites


am i going in the right direction with gopher or lnyx..is there a certain command you have to type before you can see the site...

i dont know...ahh

Lynx shows webpages in a text only environment, so you don't see any graphics while surfing with Lynx.

I haven't used lynx in about 2 years so if i'm wrong just shoot me.

You are correct, lynx is a text only browser. To see full graphics you need to load X ('startx') and run a web browser such as mozilla, netscape, konqueror, etc.

To access a web site using lynx, just type lynx websitename as so:

lynx www.cnn.com
