FTP, DNS & BIND

Hi GURUs,

I have two queries.

1)I know I can use FTP clients for my File transfer needs, but I want to learn FTP thru command line, any one can point me to some good online resource available to learn FTP command line with examples, of course free except UNIX man pages.

2) Our company has 4, 5 domain names e.g. abc.com, xyz.come etc which we use only for email delivery means no webhosting, right now we are hosting our DNS records with our ISP, and fetch all our emails from ISP thru our email server, we plan to have our own local DNS server which will hold our DNS records for all our domain names in future, any one can guide me the requirements to have our own DNS server. And free books also which can guide me to build my own DNS server from scratch.

Any help would be highly appreciated.

Thanks hitori for your help. But I was looking for some more details because I miss quite a few basic concepts, I was looking for some full fledged book like DNS & BIND by Cricket Liu, I can't afford that book at this time though, but something similar would be a great thing.

Any other pointers would be highly appreciated.

Cheers,
