Try:
user=admin
password=admin

It didn't work. I get two logins. One right after it boots up: Sunfirev210 login and if I hit #. it then says please login. Above that it says, ALOM.

I tried the suggestion you gave for both.

The server will always fallback to the console after a timeout on the ALOM. So after downloading Solaris 10 you can install it and then reset the ALOM password from Solaris with:

Code:
# cd /usr/platform/`uname -i`/sbin
# scadm userpassword admin

Great to see that you've made good progress whilst I've been asleep (I'm in the UK) with the help of the super-capable experts on this forum.

I would ask what prompt are you getting requesting a password? Is it asking for a userid/password combination? The SC would.

If it's the SC login we're talking about and your supplier has factory defaulted the SC, then admin/changeme or root/changeme should work.

On a V210 (ALOM) I would expect it to be the first one.

If the SC is not factory defaulted do what DukeNuke2 says.

SC on ALOMs has no default login. So the ONLY way to reset the password is via scadm utility. The reason there is a "alomost" default password are the SUN engineers who often used a password like "admin" or something like this during installation.

Not at home where my sunfire is, but the guy on eBay said the server has Solaris 10. He said the password is root/password or root without any password.

I'll check when I get home. I'm sooooo Excited!!!

Finally logged in. My Putty Terminal says, # as the prompt. The line before: # Oracle Corporation, SunOS 5.1 January 2005, and the # sign just below that.

I believe this is the Root. The login is; Root, and the Password is, Password. I will change that of course.

As I said I'm a newbie, Now what do I do to learn this system. I have three books. Unix in a Nutshell, Unix Primer Plus, and Unix and Linux System Administration Handbook.

Will someone give me a recommendation as to how to learn what I can about the server? I.E. What's a good book or Oracle Sun guide to learn how it works and how to configure it. I'm only using it to learn about Sun Servers, Unix and Capabilities. Thank you all for your help.
