Removing trailing x'0A' characters.
I am trying to remove trailing carriage return (x'0a') from a source program. What is a good way to do this for the whole file?

"ox0a" is a linefeed, actually, not a carriage return.

You can remove it with tr -d '\n'

Assuming that's what you want. It's a common problem to remove ^M characters from files transferred from Windows. You can do that with:

What purpose for? source files are text, and text files need line feed chars (Note: 0x0A is line feed, not carriage return).

dos2unix, if it's available.

EDIT: And assuming you actually mean carriage returns and not linefeeds...
