cron again

Hi Guys/Gals

What exactly do I have to enter into the cron to get it to use the same environment as the command line? I had a look through the cron help sheet but didnt really see the answer.

Thanks

John

You would have to be running a script to get the environment - just add one of the following to run the .profile or rc file in your script. The . or source cause the file to be run in the current process instead of spawning a child process which would leave you in the same state.

For shell (/bin/sh): . /yourdirectory/.profile
For ksh (/bin/ksh): . /yourdirectory/.profile
. /yourdirectory/.kshrc
For csh (/bin/csh): source /yourdirectory/.login
source /yourdirectory/.cshrc

cron again

Hi All

My problem seems to be that the .sh file I am running goes off and collects some data which it then writes to an HTML file in the /tmp directory. All my error messages seem to relate to the creation of this O/P file ie Attempt to load protocol driver failed and cannot connect to database:[VENDORLIB] vendor lib error but it runs fine if I just execute the .sh file from command prompt

Thanks

John
