I installed AIX the other day (several times!) but I can't get XDMCP to work.
I remember from when I installed it the last time it worked out of the box.
So why doesn't it work now?

We have just installed a sco 600 server. Xdmcp comes up in the chooser but if you don't log in within a few minutes it disappears and you have to log in
and then out on the console before you can see it in the chooser. Xdmcp is

I was wondering if anyone had setup XDMCP client and server on thier Rehat AS3. I remember that it redhat 9 you just needed to enable XDMCP. Then you would get the chooser and enable you to connect to another X server. I was looking at this and reconfigure the xdm-config file, but... (0 Replies)

On my linux box, i run netstat -l and i see xdmcp in the list but it doesn't have LISTEN as its state, see what it shows below, I'm wondering if this might explain why i can't see it in my exceed broadcast listing of servers broadcasting on our net? My unix boxes don't show this at all.

gdmsetup - GDM Configuration Tool
SYNOPSIS
gdmsetup [gnome-std-options]
DESCRIPTION
gdmsetup provides a graphical interface that enables you to modify the GDM configuration file, gdm.conf. gdmsetup can only be run as the
root user.
OPTIONS
The following options are supported:
gnome-std-optionStandard options available for use with most GNOME applications. See gnome-std-options(5) for more information.
EXTENDED DESCRIPTION
gdmsetup has six tabs: General, Standard greeter, Graphical greeter, Security, Accessibility, and XDMCP.
The following sections describe the configuration options that you can edit. The affected gdm.conf section-key pair is listed in parenthe-
ses.
General
o Whether the local greeter program is the Graphical or Standard greeter (daemon - Greeter)
o Whether the remote greeter program is the Graphical or Standard greeter (daemon - RemoteGreeter)
o Whether to use the 24-hour clock format (greeter - Use24Clock)
o Welcome string (greeter - Welcome)
o Remote Welcome string (greeter - RemoteWelcome)
o Automatic Login selection (daemon - AutomaticLoginEnable)
o Automatic Login username (daemon - AutomaticLogin)
