Data Help!!

Hi all,

The company I work for has decided to host the website in-house and I've been given the task to make it happen!

I'm currently developing the webpage, but know nothing about webservers and their administration.

I believe the recommended system would be a unix/apache webserver, so thats how I would like to go, but I don't know much about either.

I've done some research on unix, but all the version are confusing me. What's Solaris 8 and where does unix fit in? Can I buy unix off of-the-shelve?

HELP HELP HELP!!!!

Where do I start?!!

You can try direct from SUN for Solaris 8
http://www.suncatalogue.com/
dunno if it is the cheapest option, but if price is a problem, you could always run an apache server on a linux configuration.

Solaris is SUN's implementation of UNIX (and apparently one of the best!)

hope that helps Smilie
