Find help

I am trying to list all files ending in xml in a given directory, but when I do, it not only lists the ones in that directory, but in all of its subdirectories (which is what I do NOT want).

Here's what I am using:

find /acodctms/datacap/TWCC/export -name '*.*.xml'

and it is showing me:

/acodctms/datacap/TWCC/export/20050045.007.xml
/acodctms/datacap/TWCC/export/20050045.008.xml
/acodctms/datacap/TWCC/export/forms/20050045.007Document1.xml
/acodctms/datacap/TWCC/export/forms/20050046.003Document1.xml

I am NOT interested in anything "below" the export directory (the last two entries). How do I get it to NOT show me these? Also, I have tried using a prune and xdev, but neither reflect anything differnt. btw - this is aix.

I am needing to actually move these items, so that's why I went with a find. The -print option is there by default and it makes not difference on whether it traverses through subdirectories. Basically, my problem has still not been solved. :-(

try this:

find /acodctms/datacap/TWCC/export \( -name forms -prune \) -o -name "*.*.xml" -print

What you suggested will work, but here's what will potentially happen. Currently, there is only one directory under the export directory and it is called forms. If, for one reason or another, someone decides to create another directory under export and calls it files and puts xml documents into it, I will end up having the same problem. This box that I am getting this from is NOT one of my boxes and people can do whatever they want on that box, including creating directories. As a result, I would potentially end up getting things that I do not want. The prune command is good ONLY if you "know" and control what you are looking at. Since I have no control over that, I need the ability to ONLY look at that directory and ONLY get the xml files in THAT directory, not any of the subdirectories. Basically, I need what the ls command offers, but I need to use the find command (I think) since I am having to move all of these files into another directory. Hmmm...
