Newbie Q: telnet help

Hi,

I'm want to automate my connect and login ID to Solaris from WinXP. I can use telnet <server name> as a shortcut to avoid typing the server name each time I connect. I want to have this shortcut also enter in my Unix username. Using telnet /? it looks as if this is possible using telent <servername> -l <user name>, but for some reason it doesn't work, I still connect to a prompt for my login name from unix in stead of going directly to the password prompt. Any idea's

My guess is the remote server does not support that option.
Quote:
-l Specifies the user name to log in with on the remote system.
Requires that the remote system support the TELNET ENVIRON option.

Webpage to Telnet via Perl and Expect: Telnet problem?
