script to delete old files
Hi,

I want to delete files that are older than 60 days.... i need to execute the script in 7 differnt folders.... i can run the script in crontab to regularly check....

I am struck @ finding out how the file is 60 days old or not...

Can u please help me on this?

Try 'find' with 'mtime'.

Command to delete all files older than 60 days (USE WITH CARE!):
Code:
$ find . -mtime +60 -type f -exec rm {} \;

or

Code:
find ./ -name "filenames" -mtime +60 -exec rm {} \;

the issue is that the file names change and are not constant. in that case, will this command work?

if so how? i am asking, as i am new to unix...

The question now are there any files match this criteria and you want to keep
if you so you can exclude them using -prune

nope... i dont wanna retain any file...
