List files

I am very new to Unix and would like to know if there is a command or script that can list all files in a directory and write it to a *.txt file.

The Microsoft equal is:
dir /b > c:\dir.txt

Tnx allot

ls -A >~/ls.txt

You never write to the root directory for personal work but rather to your home directory "~/" is a shortcut to your home which is expanded by the bash shell, $HOME is an environmental variable which holds the value of your home directory and can also be used if you wish the command to look "clearer"

Take a look at
man 5 crontab

And when you have a handle on it run
crontab -e
