xargs agida 2

ok

i have a file called report.txt
it is a list of files
i have another file called all_images

i run this and get

Code:
ool-457c9621:~ user$ cd desktop
ool-457c9621:desktop user$ cd all_images
ool-457c9621:all_images user$ cat 'report.txt' > xargs rm
cat: rm: No such file or directory
ool-457c9621:all_images user$

what i want to do ( i posted this but cannot find the thread ) is take the list of file names in report.txt and use it to delete those files in all_images

all this is taking place in directory all_images

any help appreciated--excuse me if i did not post in my original thread

peter

First you may need to remove a small text file called "xargs" which was created accidentally in the directory "all_images" during your first test.

Now let's try with a pipe (|) not a redirect (>). The echo is to test what commands wil be generated without actually executing them.
Code:
# When happy, try without the "echo".
cat report.txt | xargs echo rm
