The scripts are in subdirectories. The chmod in post #1 doesn't mention the subdirectory.

chmod +x task*/run-tests


Off topic. There is a typo in the shebang line script in ex3/run-all-tests .

Yeah it seemed to make it executable, but it said permission denied when all the tasks tried to run.

Time to look at what user you are relative to who owns the files and scripts.
