methyl , thank you for the quick response.

'prog1' is a script file. It takes 4 arguments. They are 'start', 'restart', 'stop' and 'status'.
'start' and 'restart' will start my process, etc.
I type
/etc/init.d/prog1 status
to see the process is working.
It works but after some time it fails by unknown reason.
Looks like somebody typed
/etc/init.d/prog1 stop.
I want to log this event. How can I do the log?

Note the word "kill" has specific meaning in unix.
