awk again..

hi ,

i have a temp file with some file names listed in it..
I am parsing all the files in a directory using while loop and if the filename matches the one in the file temp, then the loop should be incremented (continue) else it has to print something. I tired like

Code:
ls | while read file
do
 echo $file
 var=`awk '/$file/ {print $0}' temp`
 if test "$var" = ""
 then
 echo "file not found in temp"
 else
 echo "file found in temp"
 continue
 fi
done

the contents of current dir are
Code:
rw-rw-r-- 1 lavanya lavanya   3 Mar 25 17:52 a1
-rw-rw-r-- 1 lavanya lavanya   8 Mar 25 17:55 a2
-rw-rw-r-- 1 lavanya lavanya   7 Mar 26 17:28 a3
-rw-rw-r-- 1 lavanya lavanya   6 Mar 26 17:28 a4
-rw-rw-r-- 1 lavanya lavanya 187 Mar 26 17:41 a5.sh
-rw-rw-r-- 1 lavanya lavanya 135 Mar 26 16:25 backup
-rw-rw-r-- 1 lavanya lavanya  60 Mar 25 17:57 mn.sh
-rw-rw-r-- 1 lavanya lavanya  10 Mar 26 17:36 temp

And the contents of temp are
Code:
a1
a2
a3

Output:
Code:

prints "file not found in temp"

You can try something like this:

Code:
awk 'BEGIN {
  while (++c < ARGC ) {
    if (ARGV[c] == "temp")
      while ((getline < ARGV[c]) >0) t[$1]
    else
      f[ARGV[c]]
    }
  for (F in f)
    printf "%-15s %s\n", F, (F in t ? x : "not ") "found"
  }' *

It produces:

Code:
zsh-4.3.10[tt]% ls -l
total 1
-rw-r--r-- 1 sysadmin Nessuno 0 2010-03-26 09:35 a1
-rw-r--r-- 1 sysadmin Nessuno 0 2010-03-26 09:35 a2
-rw-r--r-- 1 sysadmin Nessuno 0 2010-03-26 09:35 a3
-rw-r--r-- 1 sysadmin Nessuno 0 2010-03-26 09:35 a4

-rw-r--r-- 1 sysadmin Nessuno 9 2010-03-26 09:35 temp
zsh-4.3.10[tt]% cat temp
a1
a2
a3

zsh-4.3.10[tt]% awk 'BEGIN {
  while (++c < ARGC ) {
    if (ARGV[c] == "temp")
  while ((getline < ARGV[c]) >0) t[$1]
else
      f[ARGV[c]]
}
  for (F in f)
    printf "%-15s %s\n", F, (F in t ? x : "not ") "found"
  }' *
a5.sh           not found
a1              found
a2              found
a3              found
a4              not found
backup          not found
mn.sh           not found
