How do you determine which users have permission to use root priviledges?

what exactly do you mean? users which can use 'su root'? or the 'sudo' command?

or do you mean by uid? you CAN have multiple users with a root (0) uid. thecommand
'echo $UID' would display the user id.

All the users who are listed in the "System" group has the root priviledges.

Root priviledges are assigned by you the SA... whether a user has permission is another topic.


Permission is granted by you as the SA. To ensure no one has it that doesnt need it, make sure you change the password frequently as every 30 days. Restrict who knows it. and prevent any user from being in the system group.

My systems also have security setup to email me everytime an unauth user logs in as root. or attempts to do so.
