grep hangs for unquoted string

Guys,

This weird problem popped out last week when I grepped for a certain unquoted string in a file, instead of listing all the matches, it just hangs. Here is the exact grep command:

$> grep odt01758 LogFile

But when I quote the grep pattern, it successfully prints out the matches:

$> grep "odt01758" LogFile

Any other unquoted grep pattern works as expected.
Any idea why this happens to the pattern above? What's so special about it?

Thanks in advance!

It does not hangs for me, while doing grep for this string with and without quote.

I doubt whether it could be misunderstanding ?!

It might be machine specific. I'm running this command on AIX Unix Version 5.2, btw.
