In order they are file permissions, number of hardlinks, user, group, size, date, and filename. The -a part doesn't change the fields, just the -l; without that, it would just list files with no information about them.

Hi,

I have a variable $c_start=17-JUL-2009 03:45:59, i need to convert it to
17-07-2009 03:45:59, I saw your example but it works only when using ls,
however I have taken this value out of a logfile.

Any ideas on how to do it ?

Hi,

I ve done that using `date -d "$c_start" +"%d-%m-%y %H:%M:%S"`

It converts from 17-JUL-2009 03:45:59 to 17-07-09 03:45:59.
