Looking for strings

Hello everyone,
can you help me write a command to look for a particular string in a particular file name (or a pattern for file name) throughout a directory and all opf its branches?

Should it be a find with an exec to grep ?

Please let me know.
Thanks.

I just found this to work .....
find . -name "filename" -exec grep 'string to search' {} /dev/null \;

something like:

Code:
#  find . -name "*part-of-file-name*" | xargs grep searchstring

should be close to what you're after
