rm crahsed my server
So im going through some old appache log files and removing them because apache doesnt remove them itself for some reason. And i get to one file hit
Code:
sudo rm thefile.log

and my server dies. I ping it and it's turned off. It is a collocation server and I'm wating for them to turn it on. If it comes back on does anyone know where to look for a log of what happened. Or does anyone know what might have caused this?

Dont know why deleteing a log file would kill the server.

What os you using?

Probabally would check:

RedHat or similar:
/var/log/messages

It's definitely rm that is crashing my server. I just tried to delete the file again and the same thing happened my boss is not going to be pleased Smilie. But i needed to be sure it was the rm that crashed my server. The thing I am having problems with is why? I need to know why this file can't be deleted its only an apache log file and apache isn't even using it any more Smilie

Please help.

when users ftp to server the timezone reflected is UTC but the server is set to TZ in localtime
