script for two files
Can you help me in writing a script?

I have a file say file1 with data

ENG
GER
YUR
...
....

My second file (file2) has data

ENG
GER
...
...

I want to search if all the contents of file1 are present in file2.if there is some entry in file1 which is not present in file2 then i want to echo some message...

Can somebody help me on this?

also check the diff and cmp commands (they may not solve this problem the way you want)

No actually diff and cmp is not what i'm looking for...

Try this:

f1cont=`cat file1`
for word in f1cont
do
  if grep -i $words file2 > /dev/null
  then
    echo file2 has word $word
  fi
done

If you want exact matching just remove -i identifier in grep command.

another way to do this....

while read line
do
grep -w $line file2
  if [ $? -ne 0 ]
     then
      echo "$line not exist in file2"
     fi
done < file1
