how can I read the space in the end of line

cat file1|while read i
echo "$i"|wc

with this command the space in the end of the line not considered
how can solve that

for example:
read h
"hgyr "
echo "$h"|wc
# 2

Just change IFS:

while IFS= read ...

my shell now adds extra space at end of each line!
