I was suggesting he confirmed that each of the volumes was able to mount while in single user mode as it sounded like some of the applications he was trying to run were no longer being found, if these applications were on a volume that was failing to mount it would explain this.

how to repair restarting

Dear friend,

Porter, you are right.Application is on a volume(i think rz0a volume).
So whenever i try application command , server restarts .If u have free time,
could u guide me how to repair it?

The first step is "fsck", this tool does a filesystem check.

So run fsck /dev/...... on the device file for the volume that is failing and it should tell you what state the disk is in.

Can you see the man page for fsck on your system?

I suggest you start with something like....

/usr/sbin/fsck /dev/rrz0a

I am guessing at the device name, but there are two types of file for the data that underlies a file system, one is raw, one is block. I think you need the raw device.

show:bad super block

Dear friend,

When I tpye /usr/sbin/fsck /dev/rrz0a, it shows like that:
** dev/rrz0a
BAD SUPER BLOCK: MAGIC NUMBER WRONG
/dev/rrz0a: NOT LABELED AS A BSD FILE SYSTEM (AdvFS)

And then what will i have to continue?

Looks like the file system is AdvFS.

This might be of use

http://h30097.www3.hp.com/docs/base_...HTM#ADVFS-CHAP

Especially "vverify".

Does the volume successfully mount?

Can you backup all the data from that partition?

Worst case, can you backup the partition, recreate the AdvFS file system then restore the data?
