:confused: FD0 error code 30
Hi

I am new to this forum. Iam facing very strange problem in sco open server 5. when i try to mount the fd0 it just says "fd0 writeprotected, read only error code 30"
I changed the floppy drive. even I check the /dev/fd0 permissions it is read and wirte. I changed the floppies also. but still facing the same problem. Please help me out.

See if this helps - Mounting Dos Disks. If not, then post the command you are using to mount.

Hi thanks for your kind reply

But i tried both of the commands and here is the exact command

mount /dev/fd0 /floppy
mount -f dos /dev/fd0 /floppy


and one thing, earlier it mounts floppy very well

You've probably checked the obvious already, but just to be sure, what's the position of the write protect tab?

If it's not that, maybye it's a problem with the cable? Write protect gets it's own pin on the cable.

write protect tab was cleared and we can write in th same floppy on other unix server
i will now check the data cable

Hi there,

Which user are you logged into shell as?
Check directory permissions on /floppy, it may be only be chmod 700 which only gives the user specified read write & execute access.
Also check permissions on /dev/fd0
