disk upgrade

Hi all,

this s going to be my 1st time upgrading a disk.I need the ways or steps to migrate data from a 2gb disk to a 4gb disk which sits in the High Availability Disk Array Model 10.the os disk is the internal disk of the K200 system so i dont think i would be meddling around with that.what r the ways to migrate the datas from the 2gb to the 4gb?will it work if i do a full data backup and then plug all the 2gb disk out and replace it with the 4gb disk and then perform the restoration on the 4gb disks?by the way the os verson is 11.00 andd its not mirrored.....

thx in advance Smilie

Hi

Probably not the best idea to ask for upgrade process from the web, however you should be fine in doing what you suggest.

Take at least 2 backups of the data, as well as your standard backup and have all 3 sets of disks on site for the upgrade. I have seen many times, specifically with DB backups where the first backup used doesn't work.

I would also make sure the disks are unmounted from the system before you physically pull them out or that the system is powered off (I'm unsure if your system provides hotswap).

When you replace the disks make sure they are accessible and fine and you can see and use them on the system.

Once confirmed you should be good to recover the data from the tapes.

Thanks
