format df -k output

i am running df -k command on aix machine.
i got the output like this. i need to store into file and send that file into microsoft excel.i need to allign properly.

Filesystem 512 blocks Free % Used Iused %Iused Mounted on
/dev/hd4 262144 126488 52% 1344 3% /
/dev/hd2 2097152 190552 91% 31465 13% /usr
/dev/hd9var 262144 39808 85% 506 2% /var

In excel it not formatting correctly each column and row.
each column and row come exactly underneath to read properly.
how to fommat this ? pl help

Replace the spaces with tabs with the tr command.

df -k | outfile.xls

i need exact column and row in correct place in excel.

If you have more spaces as field separator you can try this:

i used like this as you said. i am getting blank e-mail with no attchment. no report.

df -k | awk '$1=$1' OFS="\t" file.xls > attachment_newfile.xls
mailx -s "report" "abc@xxx.com < attachment_newfile.xls

Well the way you are doing things there will be no attachment as your file will be copied into the body of the e-mail. Another thing to try is to replace all whitespace with commas...save it as a .csv file and send it as an attachment using uuencode.

how do i replace white spaces with commas.it will not work out.
if i do like that i have 2nd column called "512 blocks" like this. It will come as
two columns. but it is one column only and same like "mounted on" column.
here is the header.

can yo tell me how to send as text file.
It is working as in the body of the e-mail. but columns not alligned properly.
it is not readable. tell me how to format in the body of the e-mail.
