Ubuntu 8 SPARC edition problem jumbled text at install

hello guys i bought a SPARC neutra system a couple of months ago and after failing to install solaris onto it (and leaving it as a door stop for a couple of months) decided to stick ubuntu onto it

for starters i dont own a sun keyboard i have a cheap pcline usb keyboard (it works but for sum reason it keeps stickying the keys:S i havent a clue why

also i have a cheap tesco technicka optical mouse (dont no if that works as install is keyboard only)

i boot from cdrom (after many trys with the annoying sticky like keys) and i get this after it telling me quickly to back up my hard drive (which has a half installed osx server on it)

One has to question why Solaris for SPARC did not go on, it is worth checking the hardware compatibility list for the version of Solaris you were installing against this machine (a Netra perhaps?)
If Solaris will not go onto a SPARC machine than nothing else is going to...

what happened was i needed to replace the hard drive inside the machine but i had other projects and university assignments and been advised to use ubuntu on my course (and being a apple mac user) thought i stick it onto the SPARC its a pretty good spec machine 512mb ram 500mhz ultrasparc IIe

hey. well i sorted the jumbled text now (had to download the new version of ubuntu. now i have another problem its saying that it can not find the cdrom drive (even though the disk is booting from that said drive) it asks me to find the drive with a floopy driver (which it does not have) or find it in the hash (dont know the key combo on a mac) ls dev command line

any ideas are greatful Smilie
