How to configure a wireless modem

I bought a wireless modem from '' 3 ''.

It has software for Windows users.

I talked to their support center.

They know nothing about Linux.

In Ubuntu, I looked at System --> Administration --> Network

I have to click the unlock in the dialog.

It recognized wired connections; there were 3 wired connections.

That is wrong; because the modem from '' 3 '' belongs to wireless family.

I have inserted 2 network cards and on top of that there is a built in network card on the motherboard.

You just connect the modem to the USB port; it simply looks like an ordinary USB module. It is the latest modem from '' 3 ''.

Firefox can't find websites. That means configuration is wrong.

Some of you may have configured Ubuntu 8.04 LTS with a wireless modem.

I need your help.

I can go to the Internet with my regular broadband connection which has 24MB data transfer. So the Internet works on that computer though it has 3 network cards. I have already downloaded the 'k3b' program. I have installed Ubuntu on a separate computer which I use for testing purposes. I am writing here using a different computer. I am using open SuSE 11.0
