ifcpnfig checks the ip settings. and "check" files should not cause any problems. what EXACTLY did you do? have you changed something in /etc/default/login?

Hi
I open the /etc/hosts , etc/profile , etc/sysetm ,/etc/netmask, and...
I think I didn't change any thing in them.
I'm sure I didn't open /etc/default/login at all.
A new quistion: All new server system shouldn't have /etc/ftpuser , that lists the permited and not permited ftp users?
thks

first time it comes from company I login with root from console, i made new user "omc" and again login it from console there was no problem!.After all that steps i expressd b4(checking file..), now after booting server with <STOP+A> session, I start up normally but don't accept ROOT in cosole session and of course the "omc" user .
There were no ftpuser file in ftpd folder, i think, I checked it Smilie

what is "console" for you? do you telnet/ssh to the servers lom/alom/sc/rsc and go from there to the system console or do you telnet/ssh directly to the servers ip? next one, don't "break" the server (stop+a) only if the server has a problem use the break sequence! for rebooting the server better use "init 6".
by default the ftpusers file IS present! i just checked it on a fresh solaris install i did yesterday:
Code:
root@vm004 # cd /etc/ftpd
root@vm004 # ls
ftpaccess ftpgroups ftpservers
ftpconversions ftphosts ftpusers
root@vm004 # cat ftpusers
# ident "@(#)ftpusers 1.5 04/02/20 SMI"
#
# List of users denied access to the FTP server, see ftpusers(4).

Dear Duke
Sorry!I connected a keyboard and monitor to the server directly, so I don't need to use ssh /telnet,... . when the server start up prosess fininshed ,(I can see it on server monitor) then the username and passwrd window appeared I gave ROOT,root to it n I switch to CDE , I went to terminal n did all the prossess! OK!!
I can not get ur mean about"to the servers lom/alom/sc/rsc and go from there to the system console "
May be u r right about ftpuser, I didn't pay more attention in ftpd's files, I'm just sure there was not ftpuser file(like u attched) in /etc drive! If I can login root again I'll do it in ur way!
BUT pls help me in root login like last, I don't want to install Solaris again, is there any way??pls?
