Please help with computer name Solaris 5.8

Hello all,
I am at a loss, I have a machine that after it was moved from one office to another. After it was moved it now displays [user_name@unknown] [time]

/etc/hosts has correct ipaddress machine_name
/etc/nodename shows correct machine name
/etc/hostname.hme0 also shows the correct machine name

** added I just realized upon reboot the /etc/hosts file next to the machine ip address changed to unknown. Even if I edit it to the correct machine name, when I reboot it is replaced with unknown... what's up with that? Where does that name get pulled from?

Am I missing something, i would like it to display the correct machine name like so [root@machine_name] not [root@unknown] like it is now.

Please help...
Thanks.

Fix the /etc/hosts file, remove the file /etc/dhcp.hme0 and reboot.

Hmm,
All that really did was cut of me being able to remote in via ssh. Let me clerify a little bit. This is a machine across campus, it is not a server but several people access it remotely. We can ssh into it by IP address, but not by name. All though I can ping it via name. Basically all is fine except the name shows as unknown.

Thank you though.

What do you have in "/etc/nodename"? Should be the "hostname" of the machine.

Is this machine supposed to have a static or dynamic IP address?

If static is it supposed to be listed by some DNS server?

If dynamic, has the IP changed, is it being served by a difference DHCP server?

Yes: /etc/nodename is the name of the machine.
The machine has a static ip address.
It is listed correctly on the dns server. (checked)

Could this be user account specific? No right?

[/etc] > less hosts

dhcp, as my previous post suggested, the correct thing to do is remove /etc/dhcp.hme0

You may also have to have to define the default gateway etc.

I did this, but then I could not remote in via ssh. I had to walk over to it and restore the /etc/dhcp.hme0 locally, I could then remote in again. What does the /etc/dhcp.hme0 have to do with the machine name?
