I have a Sun T5120 with Sol10-1/13 installed with JDS. XDMCP is enabled. I connect to this machine with a laptop (Debian 8 and Xephyr). I can log in remotely with XDMCP and JDS works fine, except for xmodmap.

I am having an issue with remapping a mouse i have a thumb button that i want to remap to be middle click
i used xev to find out that it is button 10 and and that middle click is button 6 and so i tired this but it did not work

On my linux box, i run netstat -l and i see xdmcp in the list but it doesn't have LISTEN as its state, see what it shows below, I'm wondering if this might explain why i can't see it in my exceed broadcast listing of servers broadcasting on our net? My unix boxes don't show this at all.

DESCRIPTION
gdmsetup provides a graphical interface that enables you to modify the GDM configuration file, custom.conf. gdmsetup can only be run as the
root user. If the "greeter/ConfigAvailable" GDM configuration is set to "true", then users can access gdmsetup from the login screen, but
still need to enter the root password before allowed to modify any configuration setting.
OPTIONS
The following options are supported:
gnome-std-options Standard options available for use with most GNOME applications. See gnome-std-options(5) for more information.
EXTENDED DESCRIPTION
gdmsetup has five tabs: Local, Remote, Accessibility, Security and XDMCP.
The following sections describe the configuration options that you can edit. The affected custom.conf section-key pair is listed in paren-
theses.
Local
Allows the configuration of how GDM behaves on the console.
o Whether the local greeter program is the Themed, Plain, or Plain with Face Browser (daemon/Greeter)
o Show actions menu (greeter/SystemMenu)
o Allow configuration from the login screen (greeter/ConfigAvailable)
o Allow running XDMCP chooser from the login screen (greeter/ChooserButton)
o Local Welcome string (greeter/Welcome)
o If Themed greeter, set theme selection (greeter - GraphicalTheme)
o If Themed greeter, install new theme
o If Themed greeter, delete theme
o If Plain greeter, set background image selection as none, image, or color (greeter/BackgroundType)
o If Plain greeter, set background image (greeter/BackgroundImage)
o If Plain greeter, scale background image to fit (greeter/BackgroundScaleToFit)
o If Plain greeter, set background color (greeter/BackgroundColor)

Local

o Login start sound selection (greeter/SoundOnLogin, greeter/SoundOnLoginFile)

o Failed login sound selection (greeter/SoundOnLoginFailure, greeter/SoundOnLoginFailureFile)
Security
Configuration choices that affect security. The "Configure X Server" button allows the user to configure the displays found in the
[servers] section of the GDM configuration.
