Btw i have backed up ld.so.1 yesterday before replacing that file from other prod server, so when i checked that file today it was empty, so i have coiped the backed up file over to the original file.

Code:
# cd /a
# cd lib
# ls -la ld.so.1*
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root bin 319072 May 29 13:11 ld.so.1
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 319072 May 28 18:22 ld.so.1.20130528

If you've replaced a file that you think might have caused the problem you could try a straight reboot to see if it works.

If it doesn't then you can still reboot from cd into single user again.

What helps do you need with vfstab?
vfstab is a very important file so copy it to vfstab.backup first
You can edit this file with your favourite editor and remove references to 'md' and replace them with normal device(s) eg. /dev/dsk/c0t0d0s0 and the like.

So can i issue init 0 without modifying the vfstab file?

Yes you can if you want to try a reboot.

If a straight boot still doesn't work you will need to boot from cd into single user again and carry on from where you left off.

when i do a regular reboot after the below process, i still see the same issue.

Code:
# cd /
# umount /a
# fsck -y /dev/rdsk/c0t0d0s0
** /dev/rdsk/c0t0d0s0
** Last Mounted on /a
** Phase 1 - Check Blocks and Sizes
** Phase 2 - Check Pathnames
** Phase 3a - Check Connectivity
** Phase 3b - Verify Shadows/ACLs
** Phase 4 - Check Reference Counts
** Phase 5 - Check Cylinder Groups

Do you have a recent backup of the root filesystem that you could restore? If so, consider that option.

If not, you could try to 'upgrade' the OS by:

Code:
boot cdrom

which will take you into the install routine. Take care NOT to take the 'install' option but look for the 'upgrade' option.

If it will let you 'upgrade' it should fix your booting issue.

Btw when i again used to boot with cdrom using single user mode and then do fsck and then mounted the root partition to /a then i still see a empty file for ld.so.1

I have already copied the backed up file in previous occasion.
